Its amazing how time flies. I cant believe the new born baby that I took pictures of last year (found here) is already one year old.
Here are some of the pictures from her first birthday. Memories like these only come once in a lifetime and I’m glad to be able to capture these memories that will last a lifetime
The progression in her first year
The cake was so intricate, I wouldn’t have the heart to cut it!
I thought this was a genius way of serving fruits
All these cousins share the same birthday month
And here is the happy family
She was a little hesitant about getting her hands dirty but below is how we ended!
This has been a long time coming. After over a year since their engagement shoot, I have the opportunity to post Somil and Ripal’s wedding pictures. Set at the Merion in Cinnaminson NJ, this was a two day long collection of festival – Just like most Indian weddings. Lots of colors, lots of guests and lots of fun!
I apologize for the large number of pictures on this. Trust me, I tried to narrow it down as much as I could!
Pre-Wedding included Santek – Getting blessings from ancestors, Haldi – beautification and cleansing of the bride and the groom and garba – a traditional western Indian dance
I love to watch the first time the bride and groom see each other on their wedding day…
With Indian weddings, the party begins even before the wedding starts! The groom comes to the venue with his family and friends dancing on the street.
I had heard a lot about Longwood Gardens but this was my first time visiting the place. I was amazed at how big the garden was and all the different variety of flowers they have along with the fountain shows and the beautiful landscape. I love taking pictures of flowers but of course this time, I was here for a different reason- Shooting family pictures for Melanie and Jason. I had lot of fun shooting Jake and Joey’s pictures last year so this year when Melanie asked me if I could do a family shoot for her, I was more than delighted!
Melanie and Jason are originally from NY but we decided to do the shoot at Longwood Gardens in PA while they were visiting her sister (and my former boss), Michelle. Michelle and her husband, Dan were of so much help in getting the kids to smile and look at the camera. They even helped me carry some lights!
Taking pictures of kids is more difficult than you might think. Along with the usual complexity of composition, lighting and exposure, you now have to make sure the kids are in a good mood, they look at the camera and you have to be super fast and precise about the focus to make sure you dont miss the moment. Jake and Joey, however are some of the most camera friendly kids I’ve ever come across and the fact that they are so cute just makes taking pictures so much easier and so much more fun! The kids had a long day with going to a Zoo in the morning and then walking almost a mile with us in the park. Any other kid would have been tired and cranky. Yet with Jake and Joey, even hours after the session started, the smiles kept coming, poses were not an issue and nobody was cranky. It was amazing!
Unfortunately, we hit a big thunderstorm before I could get some golden sunlight so we had to call it a day. I still think we got a few good pictures and I wanted to thank Melanie, Jason, Michelle and Dan with all the help with the shoot.
What do you think? Please leave some feedback below….
I remember last year when I took pictures of Jake and Joey. It was the first time I was experimenting with textures so this time around, I wanted to see if I can apply what I’ve learned in the past year.
